Christmas

Manger Scene with cousins Riley & Garrett and family friend Tayla & baby Noah

My 1st time hosting Christmas Eve dinner and there were no major fiascoes. Just a couple hundred calls to my mom for help with recipes : )

We kept the tradition of getting an orange in our stockings.
(I thought you might enjoy this photo series mom)

My family sent us a little New England package. We thought the little guys reaction was pretty funny. (See videos on demarydigest.blogspot.com)

This was also a gift he is quite enjoying. He's ready to get out and start riding with all the big kids in the neighborhood.

Dear Family and Friends,

2008 has been a wonderful year full of joy, laughter, love and many blessings.

Evan is growing up much too fast. He recently celebrated his first birthday and, much to the dismay of anyone forced to carry him, he still prefers crawling to walking. He loves to wrestle with dad, flip through books, and pound on the piano keys. One thing is for sure, you can’t help but smile when you hear his deep, infectious laugh.

Becca enjoys her time at home as a full-time mom. So much in fact that she has started watching a neighbor boy two times a week. She is having no trouble switching from being the bread winner to the spending the dough. Although no longer employed as a dietitian, she frequently “experiments” with recipes. Both Evan and Steve are eating their 5 a day of fruits and vegetables, whether they know it or not. In her spare time, Becca organizes our church’s enrichment activities including freezer meal exchanges, lunch socials, and the quarterly service/lecture events. Becca also completed her first 10K on Thanksgiving, with the hopes of running a Half-Marathon by next spring.

Steve is in his second year as a Natural Gas Marketing Analyst. He has worked on a variety of Business Development projects as well as strategy revisions of two major business units. He most enjoys the complexity of his projects and the people he works with. But, the highlight of Steve’s day is entering the house hearing the half-laugh, half-grunt of Evan as he army crawls to meet his dad at door. Steve was the first to get Evan to laugh, and the two haven’t stopped since. At church, Steve enjoys his job as the young men’s leader over the 12-13 year boys.
The most exciting events this past year have been:
Hurricane Ike – With the eye passing over our house, we were definitely blessed not to have any damage to our property. The week following Ike provided some lifelong memories of serving those affected by the storm and the challenge of living without power for several days.
Travels – Unlike past years, our travels kept us relatively close to home and family. We saw the Alamo in San Antonio, visited the State Capitol in Austin, and supported the Cougars in Fort Worth. Except for our annual trip to Cape Cod and Thanksgiving in AZ for Evan to see his Grandparents, our travels were mostly confined to the Great State of Texas!
More Mosers in Texas – They say everything is bigger in Texas, including the growing Moser clan. My brother and his family joined us here in July, moving just a mile from our home. The cousins have certainly shown they like having family nearby. And, after the four of them spending two weeks living in our upstairs game room, they have definitely proven that we have more than enough room for ya’ll to visit.
We wish all of you a Merry Christmas. May we remind you to spend extra time remembering our Savior during this time of year.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year,
Steven, Rebecca, & Evan

What kind . . .

What kind of mother lets her child
fall asleep like this???

Maybe the better question is what kind of child falls asleep like this???

I promise he was not even in the swing for more than 10minutes. He had been jumping around having a grand time, then all of a sudden it got quiet so I peeked around the corner and found him like this.
His sleeping positions have only gotten weirder since my post six months ago regarding them. I haven't gotten a picture yet, but his other resent sleeping position he is folded in half. Legs are out in front of him, as if he were sitting, and then he just slumps his body down in between his legs. It looks so uncomfortable, but I've found him sleeping like that on more than one occasion. Silly kid.

This one's for you Kathryn

Thought you might enjoy another picture with his cheesy grin.

Wild Felines

Over the last little bit we've had lots of exposure to felines. Here are a few pictures.
This last weekend we went to cheer on the Cougars against TCU. We are proud to say the little guy's first football game he attended was a BYU game : ) It was a lot of fun but the cougars didn't fare so well.

Our neighborhood had a little Halloween fair for which the little guy went as tigger.

Maybe all this feline exposure has been too much because the little guys climbing skills are advancing quickly. The other day I was doing dishes and didn't hear any noise from him so I decided I better go find him. He was up on the 3rd stair when I found him and quite proud of it.

Containment

I really shouldn't complain about seeing this image every time I turn around. But there is only so much you can do with a little shadow and sewing is not one of them.

So I broke down and bought a gate. Here is my little jail mate.

His dad has been working on getting him to stand.
The other day I came into Evan's room and found him like this. He had pulled himself up to standing position but was not happy because he couldn't figure out how to get down.
He much prefers this position.

All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth

Evan is starting his Christmas list early this year. Or maybe he is trying to tell us he wants to be a vampire for Halloween.

Our 1st Hurricane

Just wanted to send a quick note to let you know that we are doing well after Hurricane Ike. We live ~50 miles from the shore, but the eye still passed over our house as a strong Category 2 hurricane. Our house, amazingly, suffered no damage except for loss of power and a few branches from trees that I wanted trimmed anyway. Our neighborhood had some significant downed trees and roads blocked by 40-50 ft trees. We still didn't have power until Monday evening and Steve's office in downtown Houston is closed through the week. So for my birthday we celebrated without electricity by having foil dinners and smores for dessert, yum : ) On Monday we decided to make a quick trip to Austin with some friends while Steve had unexpected Vacation time. It was a lot of fun and good to get away from all the chaos for a bit. Houston still has a lot of clean up left and long lines at grocery stores and gas stations. But all and all things are on the mend. We appreciate all your messages and are sorry it took us a bit to get back to you.

On the move

collage of pict

I haven't had time to post in a while so here is a collage showing what we've been doing.
Bath time is the best

1st real hair cut

The musician and his little accompanist

The two boys. I've started watching my neighbor's little boy. They are having fun getting to know each other.

Reading books, a favorite past time. Books were the 1st thing he really started to crawl after.

I don't know which one enjoys the Legos more.

The Morning Glory dad sent and we planted. Can you believe this grew from a seed and I didn't kill it. It has the most beautiful flowers in the morning.

Enjoying the swings

Enjoying the slide

Eating his favorite (avacado)

My little Shadow

Hanging out with Uncle Scott & Garrett

This is how the guys looked after we hooked up the new TV. Notice the little guy's face. I think it may have been a little much for him.
